Floyd is a native of Brooklyn, New York, USA. He was educated at the University of Maryland and George Mason University.

Golden--Horseshoes-3Floyd Oliver edited Golden Hoofprints Thoroughbred Newsletter and Sales projections from 1978-1990. He wrote 5 essay’s for Great Thoroughbred Sires of the World which include Nearco, Round Table, Princequillo, Blue Larkspur, and Black Toney. He is the author of many articles appearing in The Blood Horse, Florida Horse and Horsemen’s Journal. Floyd also developed and presented the seminar “Breeding to Win” in Lexington, Kentucky in the 1980’s.

Floyd Oliver has been Farm Manager and Bloodstock Advisor to Carl M. Freeman’s Tusculum Farm of Unity, Maryland (breeder of Miss Alleged); Consultant to Leonard C. Green’s D. J. Stable of Holmdel, New Jersey. Purchased the dam of November Snow and Scatmandu as agent for Leonard Green; Farm Manager and advisor to Alan S. Kline of Boyds, Maryland breeder of many stakes winners. Through his article X Marks the Linkage, published in the July 1983 Horseman’s Journal Floyd became advisor to Eduardo Gavaria, the result of which was the breeding of Kentucky Derby winner Real Quiet.

Floyd was General Manager of American Eagle Airlines from 1995-2000.
